More exclusive than any Ferrari, the eGnition bike, from Austrian maker KTM, is the world’s first electric downhiller. The eGnition is based around KTM’s Caliber non-electric freeride bike. The battery is mounted on the underside of the downtube, with the motor located in the bottom bracket. That motor can reportedly generate 150 Nm (110.62 lb./ft.) of power, and can propel riders up inclines of up to 16 percent. The battery takes 90 minutes to recharge. Limited edition at 88 and comes in at around R88, 000. First 3 were sold to oil sheiks. Now there’s a picture to think about.

So all in all, that’s more speed for less fit riders. Sounds like a good combination. Definitely going to be a big seller in the States then.
